‘Community opposition’ is a subset of belief in ‘the people’. Both are myths. There is no such thing as ‘the community’.
Every time somebody evokes the people or the community, look for an activism in play from a tiny handful of people.

They in turn evoke the people or the community as driving what they, individually, are trying to do. It’s retrospective.
We’ve seen an absolute slam dunk illustration of this in the recent Australian election.
/2
The narrative everybody, even those for renewable energy, now use is that ‘community opposition’ needs to be factored in.
But the entire Australian population just returned a pro-renewables government with an historic landslide majority.
/3
As with every urgent problem we now face, there is no widespread problem with people themselves. Just a handful of shit-stirring activists.
They’re conning us, it’s a sleight of hand, evoking the people or the community to cover their own self-interest.
/4
As with mis- and disinformation, the solution is to identify and then shut down activists. Not to educate or consult with the entire community.
To understand networks and status hierarchies. Societies are NOT some amorphous mass called ‘the people’ or ‘the community’
/5
They’re networks of status hierarchies. They look like the picture on the left, not the right.
Tiny numbers of people determine outcomes.

With renewables, again, the Australian community at the election told these anti-renewables activists already.
They’d say the same about disease control, if we weren’t blinded by ideas about the people/ the community.
FUCK OFF.
