What am I not seeing here? The maximum capacity the nuclear announcements this week could produce is 9.8 GW (1.4 GW for the APR1400, the biggest reactor mentioned, x7).
The NEM is currently about 64 GW. Nearly 22 GW of that is coal plants, all going. /1

Or is the plan to have more than one reactor on each site? Couldn’t see anything in the blurb. Right now that means even if every one of the 7 was the maximum 1.4 GW model, the nuclear plants won’t cover even half of the retiring coal capacity. /2 https://t.co/JWMOkRrbyy
The proposed nuclear capacity will be barely 15% of the current total generation capacity.
And that doesn’t take into consideration the nearly 280 GW of new renewables and gas capacity to come. With that, the proposed nuclear capacity is barely 3% of the future total. /3 https://t.co/6NBKwgRueQ
Am I not seeing something obvious (quite possible)? Or is there more than one reactor planned on each site? @MarkOgge ? @simonahac ?
