It’s frustrating that it’s not more obvious that ‘the economy’ is just ‘the market’. A social invention, a fiction, pretending humans live as isolated individuals. They never have, and never will. The proponents of the economy don’t, they live in strict hierarchies. /1
The economy/market was their invention, to rationalise doing nothing for the collective good of anybody except themselves. Don’t believe for a second they personally act in anything resembling a ‘market’. They employ widespread cronyism. Isn’t this fiction obvious? /2
They invented the idea of markets so that any attempt to do anything collective would be ‘anti-competitive’, would violate the laws of the market. Damaging the economy. They use equilibrium equations to say doing nothing will create the optimum equilibrium for society. /3
Again, it’s a SOCIAL invention. That doesn’t match a single thing humans actually do, socially. It’s a con. It sets up a fake binary between individual and collective action. But those are the same thing. We act as groups to make life better for individuals. /4
And they don’t personally believe it or act as if they do. Socially they do what humans have always done, they look after their social group. That’s what the economy was invented to do, to disguise that this is what they were doing. /5
They took a point in time in history where they were doing very well, and codified a group of statistical indicators that represented that advantage, and said ‘this is the economy’. Ever since no politics has been able to do a thing. /6
Humans are incinerating the planet and living with pandemics, rather than challenge this crazy fiction. Nearly everyone actually believes that societies can only function if ‘the economy’ allows it. Like an economy is our oxygen, food and water. Who believes this nonsense? /7
Pretty much everybody, the propaganda is so entrenched and embedded. /end
