We don’t need to all retreat to living in the wilderness in wooden huts. We need a new industrial revolution, so that our industrial/technological systems match our current requirements. The climate crisis is really just the road-blocking of ingenuity and engineering. /2 https://t.co/yN6wwsutVo
Vested interests used the fruits of the last industrial revolution to make themselves astonishingly rich. The source of all human progress (and wealth) is ultimately knowledge and ingenuity. The knowledge and engineering to fix all of this is all there, being blocked. /3
Blocked by electoral politics, which was gamed by this same status quo to put in place the roadblocks. They spend millions getting their champions elected, to then stall all change. How do we not see this? The electoral system will NEVER be our way out. /4
Engineering is our way out. It’s happening, despite the roadblocks. Not fast enough, but engineering deals with reality, not the endless distractions of electoral politics. It also makes people rich, which helped spur the previous industrial revolution. Everybody wins. /5
As privileged societies, for decades most of us have been so far removed from the material infrastructure of our lives, that all we see is the team sports of daily ‘debate’. The actual material realities of our lives are miles away from that rubbish. /6
We’re literally aristocrats arguing how many angels fit on the head of a pin, in our 21st century salons - social media.
