In kidult culture, everybody who acts badly is labelled a ‘narcissist’. To adults who see the world through the lens of rampant adolescent culture, all pathology is deviation from the normative behaviour of the group. We never leave high school. 1/3

Most of the behaviour described as narcissism is something else, usually some fight for social status in one of the bewildering array of status team sports that now pass for public life. We can’t fix things while being part of teen gangs on social media and outside it. 2/3

Preening and posturing and fighting for status. Curating ever more granular, pulverised ‘identities’ and then ‘standing with’ them, against other identities. What a world. So fucking tedious and boring. /end
