We need to completely re-frame the challenges we're currently facing. They're not 'Covid and climate change threatening the economy'. Let's keep it all in-house, in the economy itself. Covid and climate change are the economy being held back. /1

They're the new Industrial Revolution being deliberately obstructed by entrenched interests profiting from the last one, over 250 years ago. And that most famous of all Industrial Revolutions wasn't 'capitalism' launching assaults against society either. /2
It was society finding spectacular new solutions to social problems it had lived with for centuries. That's what industrial revolutions are, SOCIAL transformations. Technology is not a binary, with society. /3

By far the greatest boon for economies is fixing social problems. That's all that industrial revolutions are. It's why when clever people design new ways of doing things, those things sell so well. They're filling an enormous unmet demand. /4
We need to take the fight back to enemy territory, the economy itself. We're not saving it by refusing to do things for climate change or Covid. We're holding it back, weighing it down with 250-year-old lead in the saddlebags. /5
Spawned by social problems that have long since moved on. We have new social problems now, like Covid and climate change, that need a new industrial revolution. An absolute boon for the economy. That's how all economies prosper, fixing social problems. /6
'There is no such thing as society' modern neoliberal/libertarian politics doesn't understand a thing about economies. It's just human shields for representatives of a now very old industrial revolution, well past it's use-by date. /7
Rent-seeking, it's all it is. They need to be forced out of the way of our economic development. Which is the same thing as our social development, go figure. /end
