One of my favourite Tory UK slogans is ‘levelling up’. They mean ‘we’ll reduce inequality by making everybody else as rich as us.’ Like saying ‘you can all climb Everest now, we’re going to fill the space around it with 6000m of gravel.’ But it’s even worse than that. /1 https://t.co/bYBmz3ymCV
Because the summit of Everest is about 3 times the altitude of where climbers begin the trek. But the gap between the richest and poorest in the UK? The rich earn more than *230* times what the poor earn. This slogan should have been a laughing stock. /2
But the whole point of slogans is to replace any thought. So they even now have ministerial-level appointments, working specifically on levelling up. Really they’re working on more varieties of spin and slogans to disguise the task they’re not even attempting. /3
This is the same Tories who defend this by saying they’ve ‘worked hard’ for their riches. Here they are, exhausted after a day lugging sacks of potatoes. This is the power of slogans, that such blatant rent-seeking parasitic rubbish can be seen as championing the poor. /end https://t.co/K2l5qGHDR1
