The more societies are 'engineered', the less we need any political ideology at all. Political ideologies evolved at a time when life was much simpler, and less technical. The ideologues would call that a call for 'technocracy'. Rubbish. /1 https://t.co/Li3p3cQOxZ
Nearly everything that needs urgent action right now has not one tiny bit of relevance to any political ideology. They only hijack those urgencies as a platform for their boring, centuries-old ideologies. Often to profit from them. /2

This is where our electoral systems, 19th century social technology, are far and away the greatest obstacle to getting action on any of these urgent problems. Where we have to detour every possible action through a ridiculous popularity contest, for it to happen. /3
Politicians won't act, if they think something will be unpopular. They might lose votes. Or they make idiot things popular through propaganda, marketing. Popularity is what breaks it all. There's no connection at all between what objectively needs doing, and popularity. /4
Even where something is broken and is unpopular, an election has space for about 2 or 3 major issues, the rest are forgotten. Popularity is a logjam, completely unnecessary. We don't vote for who will fly the plane, when we fly. /end
