The PM is relentlessly trying to bed down US and UK-style libertarianism here. All the ‘getting government out of peoples’ lives’ guff. But who invented government? We did. All of us. To help us, to provide economies of scale for our greatest problems. /1 #auspol

What libertarians really mean when they attack government is, they don’t want those economies of scale. They want ‘economies’, where they and their wealthy friends get to keep most of the goodies. Always ask a libertarian who created government, and who staffs it. /2

The answer is always - us. All of us. Governments weren’t rolled off the back of a a truck by oppressive somebodys. We created them when the problems our societies had were too big for any of us to deal with alone. It was a vastly more efficient way of fixing things. /end
