A common line was repeated, that 'business needs certainty'. Actually business doesn't need any more or less certainty than anybody else. We would all like life to be certain, and it never is. So it's just code for 'we want to be looked after'. /2
The discussion about how Asia is still too cautious with Covid really got me, and how all that 'elimination' stuff won't last and their borders will be open soon too. Not just a business thing, it's a travel thing, that disrespect for local custom and tradition. /3
To the world's travellers, everything is a 'sight' to be seen, and/or a 'market' to be tapped. Our old normal was so much about hypermobility, everybody busily moving around domestically and internationally. Our planes are the mosquitoes that spread Covid. /4
And what's the purpose of this movement? What are we trying to achieve, as societies? Nobody seems to know. Having a good time, maybe. The driving force of all great civilisations. Or not. All that jet fuel is climate poison, maybe we'll 'live with' planet incineration. /end
