#auspol #covid19aus ventilation in the news. The longer the pandemic goes on, the more we see it isn't a medical thing at all. Like all great public health events, it represents decades of neglect and lack of care for some basics of life. /1

Fresh air. Secure and well-paid employment, that allows us to shelter from a threat for extended periods. Spaces built with an individual rather than mass gathering focus. Work not de-coupled from community, with massive displacement of people every day to 'get to work'. /2

I've said before, and firmly believe, that the pandemic would likely not even have occurred if these basics of a peaceful and prosperous and equitable life had been followed. They certainly *at least* mitigate its impacts. /end
