Climate change. The volume of combustion gases humanity has released into the atmosphere in the past two-and-a-half centuries; I think it hasn't really registered with many the scale of what's occurred. Take the 2019 mega-fires in Australia as a reference point. 1/3

The volume of combustion gases released by those fires was staggering. But the volume of combustion gases released by humanity since the Industrial Revolution? More than 100 times that released by those fires, *every year*, for the past 263 years. 2/3

That means the world has been literally on fire, with a fire 100 times greater than the 2019 bushfires, EVERY YEAR for the past 263 years. How did we not notice that? Because the combustion happened inside. Internal combustion. Engines, furnaces. 3/3 https://t.co/lTPER8x2sU
