Modern mobile phones have NPUs (neural processing units) to carry out artificial intelligence/machine learning operations, on the phones. iPhones and Android phones have had these AI chips for nearly 10 years. The industry has been shifting more AI processing to end devices and away from data centres that whole time. Tesla vehicles have powerful AI chips as well. All of their AI self-driving is carried out via those local chips.
