I've posted several times about vitamin C, most recently how it's being used to cure sepsis. I think Linus Pauling was really onto something, you don't win 2 Nobel Prizes for being stupid. You need to take this outside the loopy New Age vitamin crowd though, vitamin C is very badly thought of as just a vitamin. You can see here, what it can do is extraordinary. Also recent research that it prevents arrhythmias in 85 percent of patients who have open heart surgery. Your GP will likely toe the standard line that it's ok but not anything special, and you'll piss out more than a small dose anyway. This is one time I'd strongly encourage you not to listen to them. I take 500mg-1000mg a day, spread across 3-4 doses of 250mg. 500mg is probably enough if you're not sick, you can take multiple grams if you are. And if you're really sick, like in this article, go for it intravenously, if any doctor or hospital will listen to you. If they don't listen, find somebody who will.
