If you feel stiff or tight, as most do as they age, reframe how you think about it. Don’t try to stretch the tension away, or try to release it. Stiffness is your body already stretching. That’s why it feels tight. Just let it be stiff. Let it do the stretching it’s already doing, without trying to change any of it. This may be hard, because we love to try to fix things, to make discomfort go away. But once you reframe it, you’ll start to feel it for what it is, your body stretching for you. It’s much smarter than you, it knows what needs stretching. It’ll stretch all day for you, unlike these silly exercises, which presume to know what needs stretching. They don’t.
