I’m not on either side of the debate about the Gillette ad. I think ‘toxic masculinity’ is an empty idea, and I think men claiming the right to behave like dickheads are just dickheads. Simple as that. A highly specific set of behaviours in domestic environments gets labelled a gender war, rather than a problem with domestic arrangements. But hey, it fires up outrage on all sides. It’s just another type of competitive sport.
