I’ve spent a lot of time working in universities. What’s the function of a University? Actually I think it has only one true function. To teach people to tame ideas. Ideas matter because everything we do is an idea. Without training in ideas, they’re incredibly dangerous. Look at any evil in the world right now, and I guarantee at its heart is a noxious idea that hasn’t been tamed.
