Every 6 years the ABS analyses weekly household expenditures in Australia. One of the interesting facts to come out of it is that Australians spend as much or more on recreation and alcohol each week, as they do on groceries. They also spend more on their cars and transport every week, than on groceries. This data is now 6 years’ old, that number is now much higher again, fuel costs have more than doubled.
