The disaster that people won’t speak about. Look at the collapse in student attendance in schools, driven by mass infection and illness from Covid. Only 42% of Australian kids were at school for more than 90% of the time, in Term 1 2022. That 90% figure is one educational researchers use to assess whether absences are damaging your education, it’s thought that being away more than 10% of the time is when that damage happens. Absences starting to snowball again already now, in 2023. Something has to be done, we can’t keep infecting an entire generation and their teachers, over and over, with a lethal virus. And don’t think it can’t get worse, in the UK when this happened, they used punitive measures to force kids and teachers to come to school while sick. There are already mumblings about doing that here. This is also what’s driving Covid into the community, so we can’t control it. It’s in all of our interests that this idiocy stops, because these infections eventually reach all of us. Some of us will become chronically sick, perhaps for the rest of our life. Some of us will die.
