Now the ‘episodic cycle of rage and grief’ is again cycling back to indifference, thinking finally emerges. When nobody is probably listening, having moved on to their next target for outrage. Also in the same edition, from Jenna Price, saying we need to ‘do more than go to vigils’: “But in Australia, the most dangerous place for women is home. And who is likely to kill them? People they know, people they love. Men... Intimate partner violence is the largest single contributor to the burden of disease for women aged 18 to 44. It is not strangers. How we walk is irrelevant. How we live and love in our daily lives, that's what matters.” And from this article: “This is an issue of criminality - and the moment we start playing it as a national gender issue, we risk any real attempt to address the root cause of the problem... Our police are just speaking the truth and instead of copping a national barrage of criticism, we should heed their warning. Of course it is not Ms Dixon’s fault she didn’t make it home safely - and to claim police were saying that is ludicrous.”
