Mazda is one of the major Japanese car makers that has been bullshitting us all, telling us that it can continue to make petrol and diesel cars, no need to shift to EVs. In reality, like all the other Japanese car makers, in the background they’ve been panicking, forming partnerships with Chinese EV makers, to try to catch up with EVs. The new Mazda 6e (eZ6 overseas) is one result. Lovely-looking car, as an EV it’s OK without being remarkable. Remember there is no competition between EVs and petrols and diesels. Combustion engines are dead. The competition is who can build EVs the fastest. The Japanese are WAY behind. The Germans know how to make great EVs, but they’re far too expensive. The Americans are actually making great progress, not just Tesla. The Chinese and to some extent the Koreans will soon make most of the world’s cars though. They saw this coming, they acted.
