One of the great cons of our time is politicans and others telling people that only existing energy is ’reliable’ and ‘affordable’. They tap into deep-seated reluctance humans have to change, it’s always easier to sell the current status quo as better, because change is scary to people, it threatens their comfortable status in society. In reality, energy for example is only expensive now when tied to fossil fuels. Coal, gas, oil. Spain has shown it, by decoupling its electricty grid from gas and coal. It’s one of the only countries where power prices are now going down.
