The toxic lure of social media is that it looks and feels like a ‘community’. As I’ve posted about many times, people now live ON social media, it has actually replaced physical communities. This is from Facebook’s own March 2026 ‘public transparency report’. Let those stats sink in. In the 4th quarter of 2025 alone, it removed 1.1 BILLION fake accounts. Many of these are engaged in what is called ‘coordinated inauthentic activity’. In other words, in stirring up shit to make money and shift who governs actual communities. Spare me the pearl-clutching about AI. Just one more social media ‘coordinated inauthentic activity’, creating fake viral outrages. Our societies won’t survive unless we can rescue them from their hijacking, by social media.
