Radio interview with a medical researcher confirmed again for me the genius of my friend David Gorman. The topic was back pain, the famous ‘bad back’. And how every method and technique that’s been tried to treat back pain has been a failure, in terms of long-term cures. Core strength, bed rest, getting your back ‘cracked’ by a chiro, spinal fusions etc. - all don’t work, and in fact make the problem worse over time. What works? Asking the person to just go about their normal activity again, gently, until the back rights itself. Because your back, as David would say, isn’t a thing. It’s part of an entire integrated organism.
