Times are tough and are likely going to get very nasty. Possibly a recession. All of this was avoidable, but humans refused to give up fighting for social status, to follow what knowledge told us needed doing. And so, as history shows time and time again, catastrophe will force them to shift. It’s the only way humans will change. For example, these profound shifts to working life would never have happened without the unnecessary slaughter of tens of thousands of Australians, by Covid. Over 20 million died, worldwide, mostly avoidable. We could have made that shift without killing all of those people. But humans won’t ever just give up their social status or the fights for that status. And so reality does it for them. And many suffer, many die. We’ve spent decades denying the need to give up on fossil fuels. Now the catastrophic result of that is going to be a wrecking ball through all of our lives. Necessary change will come from it, but it’s going to hurt a lot of people.
