Often we see fads as things for kids. Yo-yos, types of clothes, pop music one hit wonders like Gangnam Style, etc etc. But adults like fads too, and it's growing. Types of phone, types of fitness activity, types of diet, types of home design, etc etc. The technical name for this is 'The Bandwagon Effect'. It's important to understand why this is such a huge thing for all ages, at this point in history in particular. It's not just people being 'lemmings', although conformity is the main driver. But the desire to conform is complicated, and also often people don't differentiate why they 'like' something from their desire to conform. Other recent adult fads: - open plan homes - reality shows like MKR - cycling - standing ovations - active wear - camping gear - cosmetic surgeries and procedures.
