A sequence of aerial shots of the Sydney Opera House, at different altitudes. I put this together as an exploration of the idea of ‘local’ and ‘global’, a fundamental idea we use in many areas. I think aerial shots help to show the fallacy of the idea of local and global. If you look at the one most zoomed in, you might say that’s the ‘local’ opera house. And the most zoomed out one is the most ‘global’ view. But I think what’s so clear, when looking at these pictures, is that the whole lot is *already connected*, at every scale. You’re not seeing more when you zoom out, you’re seeing the *connections* that are already there to the rest of the city, that you can’t see in the zoomed-in ‘local’ shot. Every altitude or scale shows you different levels of connection, that’s all, not a shift from local to global and back again. The ‘local’ is already ‘global’, already connected to everything else.
