Autochrome was one of the first technologies to produce colour pictures. This picture was taken in 1915. It hasn’t been colourised. A bit jarring to see this and feel like it’s today, when it was taken 108 years ago. This is Kitty Stieglitz. 8 years after this photo was taken, she gave birth to a son. The postpartum depression she experienced was so severe, she was institutionalised for the next 48 years. She died in the institution in 1971.
