Another revolutionary thing AI is enabling is the next generation of Covid vaccines. New pan-coronavirus vaccines target multiple sections of the virus that don't change over time, so that the vaccine will recognise the virus no matter how it varies itself, protecting against past, present and future variants. It may mean the vaccination will last for years. At the same time to prevent spreading the virus, nasal vaccines are being developed to target the virus as soon as you breathe it in. Mucosal immunity, traditional intramuscular vaccines don't create mucosal immunity. That could prevent people spreading the virus to others. The injected vaccine may also provide some immunity in the nose. The two vaccines combined are called 'prime + spike' vaccines. AI is making possible the design of these vaccines, and hugely accelerating their development.
