Here's a story the pandemic has allowed to be told in big, bold letters. Much of our comfortable lifestyles is created by slavery. Migrant workers. They staff our basic industries, for slave wages and conditions. Right now employers are desperate for workers, economic theory of supply and demand says they'll now offer more wages, to attract staff. The government's budget is predicated on that idea.
