We’ve spent 50 years flirting with one catastrophic idea: that society doesn’t exist, it’s just a collection of separate individuals. It explains our massive and ongoing accumulation of debt, the increase in family violence, our inability to take action on climate change, our skyrocketing rates of anxiety and depression, our woeful education results, and so on. It appears only a virus will pop this bullshit bubble.
