New York has declared social media a public health hazard. Which it is. It’s also a hazard to every other part of society, generating continuous tidal waves of bullshit to obstruct the most basic essential services. It makes every person feel like they’re an expert, on everything, and turns adult life into a high school culture of continual social comparison and peer pressure. How is that not obvious? These platforms work on ‘likes’. Being liked IS high school culture.
