Everybody experienced the Laurel vs Yanny debate now? (It's all Laurel for me.) The explanations given by audio types, where they pull the track apart and show two voices at work here, don't really wash with me. Older people I know hear Yanny, even though their hearing is likely less sensitive to higher pitches, and vice versa. So i think the explanation around hearing pitches is bunkum. Another example of where we base our understanding on the tools we have - in this case audio software - rather than on what might actually be happening.
