The annual pilgrimage to Mecca, to a sacred place. 2 million people. The Ed Sheehan world tour: 8.5 million people. Rather than see ourselves as 'modern' and secular, wouldn't it be better to understand how our behaviour is almost exactly the same as traditions going back thousands of years? With this one crucial difference - our sacred now has no place. Sheehan played sports stadiums, music and sport are our religion. When the concert ends, we retreat to our headphones. Our modern religion has no place. Thus, climate change, the world - place - fights back.
