Status runs societies. People who glory in anti-establishment protest in their youth fall over themselves for knighthoods in their autumn years. Fake wars against the establishment are one of the fastest routes to status, within the establishment. Just ask The Beatles, or any of the bands of the 1960s now living in country estates. Or local councillors who sweep to power bashing councils.
