How many generations of women were taught from a young age to keep their legs together when they sit? I use this as an illustrative thing about the current toxic masculinity debates. There's no good reason either men or women should have to sit with legs tightly together, it can actually be damaging. Rather than us say 'women can sit however they like', we say men who sit with legs apart are 'manspreading'. Instead of inventing a new positive behaviour for women, we attack an existing behaviour of men. I still agree with Germaine Greer, feminism has not even begun inventing what it really means to be a woman. Still mired in critiquing male categories and behaviours.
