You can dig deeper into the dramas of the world right now. This is what it's really all about, from Trump to Turnbull here in Oz. Not so much about religion trying to take over the role of the State again, although that's some peoples' desire. It's more filling the vacuum left when we said politics was just about facts, and not about values. Conservatives have taken over so much of the political space now because they never left values behind. Progressives evoke science instead, saying politics should be about facts. It was the biggest mistake they ever made, surrendering the entire middle ground of politics to the other side. Unfortunately the conservatives who understand this tend to be fundamentalist. So we're getting a very Old Testament sort of shock and awe moralism dominating politics. But nobody is offering an alternative. People send their kids to private schools often because of status, but that in itself is part of values. Values are the centre of everything, and in that way (and disturbingly) Trump is right, the battle lines of politics today are about what people value. Idiot progressives then go on to mock religion and promote atheism, as always politically clueless; sure existing religions might not be the answer for many, but look harder, they're offering something that is just completely missing from the other side. They don't separate facts and values. You can't separate facts and values - as the saying goes, it's not what you say, it's what you do in life that defines you. That's just the everyday way of saying don't separate facts and values.
