As the author says, the bizarre culture we live in is one where the population is ageing rapidly, western societies are literally giant aged care facilities. But at the same time the culture of these wrinkly nations has become an entrenched adolescence. A culture entirely of the ‘trending’ present, where no custom or tradition survives.
