Barefoot shoes to me are an example of what can go wrong with the idea of 'natural' health. They are absolutely not good for some types of feet, some peoples' current foot condition, and the activities they plan to do. They can be a disaster for some. They assume a sort of perfect foot and that before we wore shoes all people had perfect feet that never caused any problems, and ignore the now nearly universal hard flat surfaces we all walk on too. This is the problem with most ideas of 'natural', they're universalising generalisations. I have a lot of background in bodywork ideas, and know this to be true from my own bitter experience. The pain from my feet before I got properly supported shoes was the worst I've ever experienced. I'm never going back there again. https://actpodiatry.com.au/barefoot-walking-and-minimalist-footwear/#:~:text=Because%20of%20the%20lack%20of,high%20arched%2C%20rigid%20foot%20types.
