A few years ago I had whooping cough, hell on Earth. There wasn't much on offer in terms of treatment, so I did my own research and found that some doctors a century ago used high doses of vitamin C to dramatically speed recovery. So that's what I did. I was better within days. Now it seems this has possibly much wider applicability. I tell all my friends suffering from infections to take vitamin C, they've had great success too. It's not really a 'vitamin' in the way that term is defined. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/could-deadly-infections-be-cured-vitamin-c-180963843/
