More new EV models. 600km range (enough for about 3 weeks of motoring for the average Oz driver), costs about $36 to 'fill'. Estimated launch price here around $70,000. You'll save at least $20,000-$25,000 in fuel over 5 years owning one of these, and have nearly zero maintenance costs, which effectively makes the car cost less than $50,000. (It will also smoke whatever car you're currently driving.) One of the reasons EV prices have been higher in Oz is that we've had no vehicle emissions standards (one of only 2 countries in the world, the other is Russia). It's meant world car manufacturers have dumped all of their rubbish on us, the cars no other country would take because they have vehicle emissions standards. That's being fixed now, which will drive EV prices down even further. It's also made Australian fuel some of the lowest quality in the world, because it didn't have to meet any emissions standards. Why our fuel seemed so cheap, relative to other options like EVs. It's a con.
