I said to my female colleagues "thank goodness yesterday is over, we can have 364 days of ignoring women again." (I have to duck when they throw things.) But the serious point to it is that we make symbolic gestures in response to chronic problems. "I Stand with Ukraine" also comes to mind. I'm not aware of that having made the slightest difference to a single thing happening in Ukraine. We don't have the first clue how to bring about real change any more.
