Australia should maybe do what Europe started years ago. Pay farmers to stay on the land. Not to farm, but to regenerate the land. Fix the soil, the vegetation, the water. It’s the obvious solution to the crisis, agriculture in Australia is mostly fundamentally broken and has little future. The food we need to eat should be grown on the remaining viable farms, which should also have strict soil, water and vegetation requirements. Fathers there can be subsidised too.
