Canberra right now is Shakespearean. Shakespeare based quite a lot of his work on politics. It still frustrates me that people think politicians should all be nice to each other, should stop arguing and fighting. Our understanding of how our own societies work seems so poor. Politicians fight so that we don't have to. As Paul Keating once said, do people prefer fighting in the streets, or in parliament? These fights right now aren't just about individuals, they're about issues that the public is also deeply divided on. Let the pollies slug it out, so we don't have to. (I like the earring on Will.)
