Australians have been taken for a ride by offshore fossil fuel companies. Other countries make more in relative terms from their fossil fuel exports in a year than we’ve made in the past 30. That’s no accident, the governments we’ve had in that time were deeply compromised by donations from the same industry. The last government even employed members of that industry as part of the National Cabinet process. Australia has been robbed. The Howard government pissed about 300 billion dollars of mining revenue up a wall in election bribes. The governments that followed have been doing the same with oil, gas and coal.
