A starter motor. I love that you can't even start a combustion engine, without an electric engine. Same reason you have to idle the petrol, or diesel, burning fuel, while you're stationary, like at the traffic lights. I sit at the lights listening to some diesel ute idling next to me, sounding like a tractor. Nothing says better what rubbish technology combustion engines are.
