I think she’s remarkable. But I’ve never liked live shows with lots of people on stage, including dancers. One of the magic things about rock shows was just 3-4 people on stage, making all the sound. It felt raw and dangerous and a bit magic. The modern choreographed shows with dance routines leave me cold, it’s too slick somehow, and you lose that sense of surprise, songs were never the same twice in a 3-4 piece band. Now the music becomes a soundtrack to the choreography instead. Not that I go to any shows any more anyway, they bore me. Even music itself has started to, as I’ve got older I’ve been drawn to the complexity of sound itself, and away from the repetitive and compulsive ear worms of music. It becomes annoying, once you perceive the throttling of sound into these repetitive patterns. And as we’ve lost our social structures, music has increasingly been the glue that holds us together socially, which I find very unhealthy. We’re not teenagers.
