I love politics. Lithgow is the only place in the entire region, and the neighbouring Riverina, that doesn't have NBN yet. And it's just been delayed another year. I looked at the Australian Electoral Commission records for the 2016 federal election. You can get a breakdown by town there, not just by electorate. I've put a red cross on the map below for every town that voted for the LNP at the last election, and a green star for every town that voted for Labor. (Lithgow was the only place.) The purple is places that already have NBN. See a pattern there? The NBN cited 'technical and geographical issues' - what a load of rubbish. Politics, it's how it works. Also why the State and Federal LNP members spend so much of their time in Lithgow, it's the only marginal part of their electorates. And why the local council members in Lithgow who are LNP-aligned spend so much time with these members on their visits. It's interesting that the current mayor of Lithgow, who isn't LNP-aligned, cops a lot of flak in town. Whereas the LNP is royally screwing Lithgow, and yet people love the LNP reps on Council, including the previous mayor. (I didn't vote for any of them I don't think.)
