Paul Keating made the excellent point today that countries are always conquered only in land wars. I don’t think there’s an exception. The idea the Chinese could sail an enormous armada of troops over 8000km of ocean to take over Australia is ridiculous. They’d be seen weeks in advance. Planes and missiles would sink the lot of them. The submarines are only being seen as missile launch platforms for the US in the Indo-Pacific, not for protection of Australia. And we’re planning to spend $368 billion of Australian money, to fund this handful of American missile platforms. Like throwing toothpicks at a mountain, as Keating also said.
