77% of sexual assaults in Australia are committed by people known to the victim. About 35% of these are a member of the same family. The other 65% include ex-partners and de facto relationships. As with domestic violence, maybe the problem has little to do with gender, and almost everything to do with specific relationships and domestic arrangements. If we want to drag gender into it, we could focus on men's understanding of relationships. Not on masculinity or patriarchy, which are nebulous non-things.
